Sudan
The government of Sudan is demolishing churches. Last week another was bulldozed. The systematic steps are not new to repression. Since 2012 has expelled foreign Christians and then bulldozed church buildings, claiming that they used to belong to the South Sudanese, who no longer live here. When challenged, they produce forged documents.
At the same time, finances are flooding Sudan from rich uncle Muslim nations. Each church bulldozed is on land that quickly is transferred to a Muslim business. This is not new. The same thing happened wherever the Ottoman Empire went for it's tenure on earth. Prior to that Tamurlane slaughtered Christians to the tune of 17 million, so ridding the earth of their presence that a few generations on it was entirely forgotten that Christians had ever been there.
But this is today. We live in a modern, tolerant world. We have the international committees and global rules. You would think that it might help. But it doesn't. Any person who tried to voice their defense of the churches is being fined. There are few international voices being raised. Besides, we all remember what happened to journalists who got to near to ISIS or Boko Harram.
Meanwhile, money keeps pouring in to Sudan. And it's all nice and charitable. It's building schools and hospitals. With strings attached. Keep your eyes on Sudan.
The truth is, that when this kind of repression happens, a seed falls into the ground and dies. Like Jesus, on the cross. It's painful, it costs. It means this church just lost all their bibles, their only assets, and have no way to rebuild or defend themselves. But, when that kind of "death" happens God does things.
Yes, keep your eyes on Sudan. God must be up to something good! And wouldn't it be an honor to be a part of it?
